Musician, Score Designer
I have known and admired Aidan's work for the last eight years, attending performances at venues like Tranzac in Toronto, to more intimate gallery spaces like the Textile Museum during Nuit Blanche in 2006. Conservatory trained on the flute and a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, Aidan was the first to introduce me to a new genre of music where sound loops are cleverly forged, then layered to create a slow and complex build-up to a transcendental moment of musical inspiration (reminding me of an atomic math equation put to music). His musical artistry always left me with that feeling of enlightenment a person achieves after absorbing a brilliant artwork.
"His primary instrument is the electric guitar with which he creates music ranging from experimental/drone to ambient post-rock to contemporary classical. He has released numerous albums on labels from around the world and has authored several books of prose/poetry." (see aidanbaker.org)
As score designer for blakout's vignettes and feature length film, Aidan either plays directly to the narrative or else creates music that supports the most essential message of the work.
